Memories & Miracles Muistoja ja Ihmeitä
A Legacy of Faith in Finland. President Robert G. Wade and his wife, Sister Faye Wade, served the Finland Mission from 1972 to 1975. Fifty years later, their missionaries gathered to honor them with Memories & Miracles, a book of personal stories presented to Sister Wade at the April 2026 Salt Lake City reunion. Explore these pages to rediscover the spirit and stories of those remarkable years.

The book we call Memories and Miracles began in September 2025 following a conversation with Sister Wade about mission stories. She mentioned that tales from missionaries in Finland were among her favorite topics. When the person sitting beside her offered to compile more stories into a book with the help of about 300 returned Finnish missionaries, she enthusiastically accepted.

In October 2025, the project was announced at the Finnish reunion held at Brian Wade's church building. Since then, returned missionaries have been sharing their memories and miracles by emailing them to WadeEraBook@gmail.com.

The book has been brought to life through the efforts of several dedicated individuals: Veli Burke Rees handled the compilation, Sisar JoAnn Hunter took on the role of correspondent and encourager, and Veli Gary Carter —who has been connecting with the entire group of 300 missionaries for years—assists Sister Hunter, and offered assistance to the Wade family to include their special chapters. Veli Mike Nyborg provides oversight and approval (for most things), and offered the initial vision of the completed project. Veli Darwin Rasmussen contributes as needed in various capacities. Many others have contributed to the book.
