Memories & Miracles Muistoja ja Ihmeitä
A Legacy of Faith in Finland. President Robert G. Wade and his wife, Sister Faye Wade, served the Finland Mission from 1972 to 1975. Fifty years later, their missionaries gathered to honor them with Memories & Miracles, a book of personal stories presented to Sister Wade at the April 2026 Salt Lake City reunion. Explore these pages to rediscover the spirit and stories of those remarkable years.
The video page showcases memorable experiences from our time in Finland—a land of midnight sun, quiet forests, and warm saunas where hearts open naturally. These videos introduce you to remarkable people whose stories may be unfamiliar but carry that distinctly Finnish quality of sisu: quiet strength and perseverance. Everyone featured has a story about how lives were shaped—perhaps even your own—and how we as returned missionaries continue to embody the Finnish spirit of yhteisöllisyys (community) as we serve and uplift others, much like Finns gathering around a shared table after a long day.

This story began years before two missionaries knocked on a door in Tornio in 1972 and continues in the lives of all who were moved by the guiding hand of God. It is a testimony of how the Lord’s purposes unfold through His people.

While serving as a senior missionary in Finland, Kevin Mitchell prayerfully created this video, along with many others, to bear witness of these sacred experiences and the Lord’s ongoing work.

Irmeli Honkonen-Räsänen's inspiring journey is chronicled in Memories and Miracles. A talented singer and songwriter, Irmeli shares her faith through music—many of her songs can be found on her Facebook page, where you can enjoy her performances and learn from her heartfelt lyrics, and download her songs to your device. Kevin Mitchell produced a compelling video documenting how she and her sisters discovered the Church in the early 1970s during President and Sister Wade's mission, when they served alongside 300 missionaries.

Helsinki Temple, located in Espoo, was dedicated in 2006. President Hinckley dedicated the temple on October 22, 2006. This video shows the activities of that time.
