We are glad you found this page.  If you are new to the book project, we can hardly wait to help you compile a Memories & Miracles book for you to share the memories or miracles you witnessed while on your missions, or while visiting Kristus Garden in Finland.  At this time, we are working on Memories and Miracles - Kristus Garden and several Memories and Miracles books for several Finland Mission President's missionaries requested by the missionaries.  Some will be surprises for their Mission Leaders.

Preserve Your Mission's Legacy

If you would like to capture and preserve the spiritual history of your mission, we invite you to create a dedicated volume of Memories & Miracles. To begin this journey, please reach out to us at FinlandMemoriesAndMiracles@gmail.com

How It Works:

​

  • The Timeline: The process of compiling, editing, and designing a custom book takes approximately six months.

  • The Scope: A standard, beautifully bound volume of about 350 pages is typically achieved when 100 missionaries submit a few personal accounts each.

  • Cost - täysin ilman kustannuksia.  For former Finnish missionaries, there is no charge to help create a Memories & Miracles book for your group. 

  • Book availability - when your book is complete, each person can purchase a book through a self-publisher - currently we use Lulu.com.  One book may be purchased at a time.  The purchase price will be the printing price, which will be about $35 plus shipping.  The book will be Hard cover, 80# Coated paper, and Standard color.  A pdf on the website will be available for no cost.

  • Your book will be assigned a webpage.  This will help members of your group know how to submit an article.  And, the entire group will see the progress of the book.

  • Songs?  Would you like to have a few songs on your webpage?

  • Table of Contents - See the Chapters that will be included in the Memories & Miracles book -

  • Introduction song - your webpage will have an Introduction song - like this one that was created for Sister Faye Wade -

  • First Step - you will be asked to provide a photo for the front cover.  Use a 'free Finland photo' from a website, or provide a photo you have.  The photo may be modified.  Or we can use the photo on the book example you have already seen.  Just tell us.

  • Second Step - you will be asked to create a Dedication page - an article for the book's Dedication page.

  • Third Step - you will be asked to create a Letter to your Mission President.  See sample -

  • Fourth Step - then, we will get started.  You will be involved in the entire process.

  • Other Steps - there are quite a few steps.  They will be taken one at a time.  Eventually, you and your associates will help proofread the book before publication.  You will send emails to those in your group - to tell them about the project, and to ask for articles.  We will help with the content of these emails.  You will help review the articles.

  • You, and others who help with your project, will have a wonderful spiritual experience during the next few months - that we promise!

RULES FOR ARTICLE SUBMISSIONS

 

Contribute an article, or several articles.  The following instructions will help you.

Length of article - short or long.  A few sentences or several paragraphs.  An article may be two or three pages long.  Length may be adjusted in some cases by the editors.

Content - Write about missionary memories.​

​

  • Miracles you have witnessed

  • Your call to serve

  • Advice from a mission president or mission mother

  • Learning moments

  • Conversion stories

  • Stories about planting seeds you witnessed

  • Family History experiences

 

Photos - submit only photos of yourself at the time of your missionary service.  No photos of other people per GDPR rules.

Use of AI - Artificial Intelligence - AI will be used to improve spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, article flow, structural improvements, clarity, and eliminate redundancy. Additionally, relevant cultural contexts, may be included as necessary. Frequent use of artistic AI generated graphics will be used, which include pencil drawings, charcoal drawings, realistic photos, and watercolor drawings. Editors appreciate your cooperation in utilizing AI. If you need further adjustments, let us know!

 

Submit an article - email the article in a WORD file or a pdf file.

 

Presentation to the Church

  • Memories and Miracles - will be submitted to the Church History Department - your group will help do this.

  • Memories and Miracles - will be submitted to the Church FamilySearch Department.

  • Memories and Miracles may be presented to Elder Renlund.  If this happens, someone in your group will help do this.  Your book will be added to his collection of Memories and Miracles - Finland.

 

Each person who submits an article will include this statement at the top of the first page of the article:

I hereby grant permission for any article I submit for the "Memories and Miracles" book to be utilized in any manner by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, within the Historical Department or the FamilySearch Department.

 

Best practices in writing your articles –– some don'ts:

​

  • Do not use dates or times.  Use instead "early in the morning."

  • Do not use names of other churches.

  • Do not copy and paste from your journal, rather, tell the story.

  • Do not use full names of investigators or acquaintances.

  • Do not use Church titles you acquired during or after your mission.
